The Community Ensemble
In 2009 Turning Wave celebrates
Australia as A Many Coloured Land. This year our Big Bush Orchestra
becomes the Ensemble of Nations as we recognise, along with the
Irish, other cultural groups that have impacted on the Shire of Gundagai. If
you're a
fiddler, play the accordion, flute, whistle, mandolin, concertina or just about any
instrument you can imagine we want you to join in the fun!
Everyone's welcome
Anyone who plays
a musical
instrument and has a festival wristband (ticket) is eligible to be part of
this exciting group directed and led by Sydney fiddler Trish Barker. This
year Trish will be putting together a fabulous programme of music featuring
Irish, Scottish, Italian, Greek and even some Chinese influenced pieces.
As in previous
years the music is now available to download (see below) so that
you can practise and prepare prior to the Festival. There will be two
rehearsals over the Festival weekend, culminating in a public performance on
the Carberry Park Stage on Sunday 20th September.

The Great
Whistle Walk
Yes! It's on again! And
this year we want to double the number of whistle players walking in
the parade. Whistles! you say - it's all
about the humble 6-hole end-blown flute known as the whistle, also
referred to as the tin whistle, the pennywhistle or the Irish whistle.
Join your fellow whistle players be part of
the Great
Whistle Walk
from the top to the bottom end of Sheridan Street, Gundagai as part of
the Festival Parade on Sunday 20th September.
All you need is a little
bit of skill and a "D" version of the
coolest instrument on
the planet.
