Information for Applicants

Please read carefully before completing your application

The Turning Wave is a small, non-commercial, community arts event with a very modest budget.  The Festival is currently realised under the auspices of the Gundagai Regional Enhancement Group Inc. and is staffed entirely by volunteers.

Performer Applications open: Monday 11th January 2010

Closing date: Midnight Sunday 28th February 2010*

* Please note - Late applications will not be considered.

Be part of an exciting showcase of musicians & performers.

The Festival takes place in a number of venues throughout the historic town of Gundagai. It is anticipated that performers should be flexible enough to make anywhere from 3 – 4 appearances over the Festival weekend. More if you are coming for the whole 5 days.

We are looking for performers who can express the ethos and theme of the festival in entertaining, engaging and informative ways in both the traditional and contemporary arts, and who will also enter into the spirit of the event. Our 2010 Festival theme is:

Ireland over here!

Fee Structure

Like most festivals we can only provide modest fees and it is unrealistic to expect the kind of remuneration that you might get from a commercial gig. We try to be fair to all our performers and will take into consideration the number  and type of performances you can offer and where you are travelling from.

Your FEE should be inclusive. Please just quote ONE figure. Do not give breakdowns.

We do offer great venues, good sound and the opportunity to sell your CDs and merchandise.

Please note:

We are unable to offer fees for "one-off" workshops.

Unfortunately we cannot provide airfares for international or interstate performers.

Groups with 8 or more members:

Due to the size or our sound stages, in 2010 the festival is unable to accommodate groups of more than 20 performers. Groups of 8 - 20 performers should be prepared to perform for "season tickets" in lieu of a fee.

Applying with more than one act

Because the main event of TWF takes place over a weekend it makes programming very difficult when performers rock up in two or more acts, especially if those acts are also offering workshops and/or special events. While it is not impossible to be involved in two or more acts it often results in the organising committee having to make a choice between one or the other.

Application Form

Each year we are receiving more applications than we can possibly accommodate. This year we have simplified our application form so please just send the required information. Also, because our festival is staffed entirely by volunteers it will make our job a whole lot easier if you complete your application using a computer, save it, and then email it to us as an attachment so that the information can be easily transferred into our data base. This saves time and allows us to process applications quickly and more efficiently.

Please DO NOT send hand written or scanned application forms in 2010. If you have difficulty with the form we are happy for you to copy the information into the body of an email but in this instance please check your email before sending to ensure that it is coherent and reads in order.

Have you read the above information?

If YES then please download application form.
