 Stunning Concert Performances; Enthralling Theatre;

Poetry & Storytelling, Themed concerts; Street Entertainment.

Concerts and festival events take place in a number of venues throughout the town and the festival is already renowned for providing festival-goers the opportunity to enjoy performances in quiet, friendly and intimate settings. We’re confident 2008 will deliver an event with all the ingredients to inspire, inform and entertain you.

Be a part of the Action

Whether you’re a music fanatic or simply want to have a good time in Gundagai the Turning Wave has it on offer, catering for all tastes, and there’s an opportunity for everyone to participate with community music ensembles, blackboard concerts and, watch out for the street music, sessions and busking competition. The Turning Wave is a Festival where you can make music, participate in sessions or learn new skills. There's plenty of opportunity to get involved or find a stage to share your music.

Dance, Dance, Dance

The festival offers a full Program of Dance events including Workshops, Ceilis, Historic Bridges Costume Ball (an opportunity for you to dress up), Dance Exhibitions, and this year we have introduced a family bush dance as part of our Kidzone entertainment. In a first we are also offering Master Classes in set dancing as part of the pre-festival program and workshops in sean-nós dancing.

Children and Youth

Saturday is youth day at The Turning Wave with our Kidzone program swinging into action from 10am with non-stop entertainment, and concluding with a family bush dance from 4-5.30pm. You'll find everything from special events to workshops and concerts, youth forums and the very unique Celtica Puppets made possible by Festivals Australia. But, also look out for Youth Moot on Friday, our special schools concerts and lots of street stuff on Sunday.

2008 Festival Theme

Spirit of Place

Our theme embraces stories, art, memories, beliefs and histories as well as the  tangible physical aspects of place such as  monuments, boundaries, rivers and the like, to the presence of relatives, friends and kindred spirits or the supernatural guardians of places such as faeries, ghosts and other beings which are such an integral part of the Celtic and indigenous cultures.
